The Great Wall
This is the longest defensive system anywhere in the world, the only structure that can be seen from the Moon. During the ancient China period, the wall was a defensive structure that helped against Mongolian invasion and today, the structure is a symbol of the entire country.
The Forbidden City
The Forbidden City is known as the Palace Museum and is an attraction that is seen by many as a must visit. In the past it was an imperial palace during the Qing and Ming dynasties, hosing a total of 24 China emperors. We are faced with a structure that relies on the feng shui Chinese theory and this structure is the largest ancient structure that served as a palatial establishment.
Nowadays, this location stands out as a huge museum. It houses thousands of relics, including the highly valuable “A Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” scroll painting. You can see this location in Beijing, making it one of the cities that have the most historical sites in the world at the moment.
The Terracotta Army
Around 1.5 kilometers to the east of the renowned Mausoleum of the First Emperor you can find this truly majestic location with life size terracotta army models. Now the location is a museum that contains the famous Terracotta Army, which actually covers over 22,000 square meters. There are 8,000 life sized terracotta soldiers and horses that the visitor can see, together with thousands of bronze weapons that were unearthed in the past. Some people try to make the location be recognized as the eight wonder of the world but this remains to be seen.
The Summer Palace
The largest Imperial garden in China is built based on the blueprint of the West Lake by Hangzhou. We are faced with a 300 hectares location that was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in the year 1998. When referring to Chinese landscape design, this is one location that is simply seen as superb by specialists from all around the world.
During the Qing Dynasty, the Summer Palace was used as a summer resort for the royalty. Layout and architecture are thus really exquisite. You can easily enjoy the location and be on a cruise to get to it.
Mogao Grottoes
Mogao Grottes are renowned because of the exquisite mural paintings and the superb Buddha statues. There are currently around 735 grottoes, mural paintings, over 2,400 colored Buddha statues that are made out of clay and half a million historical relics. When it comes to Buddhist art, the Mogao Grottoes are simply superb, ever since they were first carved in the year 366. 16 dynasties left their marks on the grottoes, making the destination one that every single history lover wants to see.
