Lake Victoria is well known around the world, the largest of all the African Great Lakes by area covered. It is also the second largest of all the freshwater lakes in the world. As you can imagine, a visit in the region is quite stunning and the lake is highly attractive for tourists. That automatically brought in interest and there are many different great tourist attractions in the area. Let us take a look at those that are the most attractive.

Masai Mara National Park

Although located 171 km away from Lake Victoria, Kenya, most tours in the region include a visit. The park is well known around the world because of the wildebeest annual migration from Serengeti. The cultural experience is also really good since the local community has quite a lot to offer.

Kakamega Forest National Reserve

You can find Kakamega Forest in Kenya’s Western province, just northwest of Nairobi, quite close to the Uganda border. What you should know is that this is the last of the settlements that still remain from the Guineo-Congolian ancient rainforest that at one time covered the continent. The national reserve basically covers an area of around 230 square km.

Serengeti National Park

You surely already heard about the Serengeti National Park. Its name comes from Maasai language and the word actually means Endless Pain. It is a pretty good way to describe the entire region. You can so easily see various acacia bushes kopjies and riverine areas. In addition, there are some interesting vast grassy plains you will see in all documentaries and video footage of the region. Wildebeest migration is highly attractive and there are many other things you would love.

You can easily reach the island from Mwanza via boat ride, which takes just a quarter of an hour.

Karen Blixen Museum

This museum is actually the original home in Kenya of Karen Blixen, a well known Danish Author, renowned for Out Of Africa. The book was made into a film and now you can visit the estate in order to see many interesting artifacts.
